Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is the speciality of dentistry and pathology that investigates the cause, nature, process and effects of the diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is mainly involved in training the undergraduates in Oral Biology, basic Dental Sciences & their clinical applications which includes instructions in the subject of Dental Morphology, Oral Embryology, Oral Histology, Oral Physiology and Oral Pathology and Microbiology. This is essential for understanding the cause, effects, Diagnosis treatment and outcome of various diseases occurring in the normal tissues/organs thus providing a strong correlation between microscopic/macroscopic and the clinical aspects.

The department aims at UG training and more importantly the diagnosis of specimens received not only from the institution but also from private clinical practitioners and hospitals, as part of treatment or investigation. The department is concerned with the teaching of Dental Anatomy, Oral Histology and Oral Physiology to I BDS students and Oral Pathology to II, III BDS students and Interns.

Biopsy processing, FNAC, Cytosmears, Oral Cancer screening & reporting are the back bone of Oral Pathology department and is equipped with the state of the art equipment for this purpose.
