REPORT ON AROGYA SAPTHAHA

Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada District, Local Branch, Mangalore in Association with Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore & Srinivas Hospital & Research Centre, Mukka, Surathkal has inaugurated the “AROGYA SAPTHAHA” by donating the blood on 16th January 2016 at Srinivas Hospital & Research Centre, Mukka, Surathkal.

Dr. Uday Kumar Rao, Dean, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, appreciated this programme which scheduled from 16th to 21st January 2016 and advised the needy to make use of this occasion.

On this occasion Dr. A.R.Shabaraya, President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada district Local branch and Principal, Srinivas College of Pharmacy Dr. EVS Subrahmanyam, Vice President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada district Local branch and professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Dr. J L Joshua, Medical Superintendent, other departmental heads who include Dr. Satyamurthy Aithal, Surgery, Dr. Mahesh Chandra Hedge, ENT, Dr. Ashok Nayak, Medicine, Dr. Amarnath, Orthopaedics, Dr. Sukhesh, Pathology, Dr. Annayya Kulal, Medical Officer, Mrs. Helen Tauro, Nursing Superintendent and Sri Anil Kumar, PRO, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences were present. Mr. Gopikrishna, Mr. Mahesh Pushkar Asst. Professors, Srinivas College of Pharmacy donated the blood. Dr. S Satish, Asst. Professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy, has coordinated the arrangements.

Ganapathi Bhat, Managing Director, Jeddu Ayurvedics, Vittal while delivering the keynote address in the inaugural function by lighting the lamp of the National Conference on Herbal Drug Research-opportunities and challenges at Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore in Association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore & Indian Pharmaceutical Association, D.K District Local Branch, Mangalore on 8th March 2016.

Dr. A.R.Shabaraya Principal and Director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy and President, IPA, D.K.District Local Branch in his presidential remarks exhorted the delegates to make best use of the opportunities and gain valuable knowledge from experienced speakers of the day. Distinguished Guest and speaker Dr. Ravi Rao, Professor, Alva’s Ayurvedic Medical College, Moodbirdri advised the delegates to be adventurous in research to solve the problems in different angles.

Dr. U. Srinivasa, Professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy welcomed the delegates and introduced the invited guests to the gathering. Chinmayi Upadhya & Ashwini Somayaji anchored the programme. Dr. E.V.S Subrahmanyam, Professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy and Vice President, IPA, D.K.District Local Branch proposed vote of thanks. 120 delegates from Medical and Paramedical sciences attended the programme and presented their research work in oral and poster scientific sessions.

REPORT ON “DENTAL CAMP”

“Oral health is total health” said chief guest Dr. Lavanya Varma, Associate Dean, Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka, Surathkal who inaugurated Dental Health Camp organized by Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada District, Local Branch, Mangalore in Association with NSS Unit of Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore & Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka, Surathkal on 4th July 2016 at Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore.

Guest of honour Dr. Kelvin Peter Pais, Asst. Professor, department of Public Health Dentistry Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka, Surathkal gave a talk on Oral hygiene.

REPORT ON VANAMAHOTSAVA PROGRAMME

The NSS unit of Srinivas College of Pharmacy organized Vanamahotsava at Valachil Campus on 21.07.2016. More than 30 saplings of medicinal plants were planted by the staff and students of Srinivas College of Pharmacy. Shripathy.D, NSS Programme officer, Department of Pharmaceutics, Srinivas college of Pharmacy, welcomed the guests and explained the environmental protection initiatives taken up by the college.

REPORT ON ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Orientation programme for fresh batch of Srinivas College of Pharmacy students was held on 27th July 2016 at Valachil Campus, Mangalore.

The Principal Dr. A.R.Shabaraya, while inaugurating programme advised the students to follow four C’s they were Competence, commitment, culture and communication and called upon the students to utilize various types of facilities made available in the college, encouraged the students to face the challenges in the field of Pharmacy. He has exhorted the students to come out successfully in their lives by excelling in studies and be winners in courses opted by them. He gave a presentation of profession of Pharmacy, detailing course content with rules, regulations, outlined its future scope, introduced the faculty members and assured the parents about the safety of their wards.

Students who had taken admission accompanied by their parents attended the programme and expressed their views on the quality of the academic programmes imparted by the Srinivas college of Pharmacy.

REPORT ON “WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY”

Srinivas College of Pharmacy in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Local branch, Mangalore organized a function to mark “WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY” in Valachil Campus on 27.09.2016. Sri. Shankar Naik, Asst. Drugs Controller, Mangalore, inaugurated by lighting the lamp. He highlighted the significance of Pharmacy profession which can make the society free from sufferings.

Dr. A.R.Shabaraya, Principal & Director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy and also President, IPA, local branch, Mangalore in his presidential remarks called upon the budding Pharmacists to uphold the ethics and importance of this noble profession in healthcare system.

Guest of honour, Sri Dhananjay H, Drugs Inspector, Mangalore exhorted the budding Pharmacists to play key role in total healthcare system to provide better services to the needy and also stressed the importance of new opportunities in pharmacy field .

Smt. R.S Nalini, Pharmacist, Vaibhav Lakshmi Medicals, Kodikal, Mangalore & Former Senior Pharmacist, District Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore was felicitated in recognition of her services in community Pharmacy. Mr. Rohinatha, secured 4th rank & Mrs. Bhavyakumari secured 5th rank in II D.Pharm examinations conducted by Drugs Control Department, Board of Examining Authority, Govt. of Karnataka were also felicitated.

Hospital, Community Pharmacists, other Pharma professionals and executive committee members of IPA local branch Mangalore were present in large numbers on this occasion.

REPORT ON NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK -2016

Adopt good habits and discharge the responsibilities in achieving the goal with all confidence knowledge and ethics in your profession and be cautious of illicit use of drugs by Mr. L.A Manjunath, Deputy Commissioner of Excise, D.K. District, Mangalore said while addressing the inaugural function of National Pharmacy Week 2016 organised by Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada District Local Branch, Mangalore in association with Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore at Valachil Campus on 29th November 2016 .

On this occasion chief guest released college magazine “PHARMA SHREE” and Inaugurated Student council 2016-17 followed by oath taking ceremony by council members.

Dr. A.R.Shabaraya, Principal, Srinivas College of Pharmacy in his presidential remarks exhorted the budding Pharmacists to uphold the theme for healthy India by creating awareness in prevention and management of diabetes and further advised them “Not to let the failures overtake your ambition keep your determination strong enough to succeed”.

REPORT ON AIDS AWARENESS AT SRINIVAS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada District Local Branch, Mangalore in association with Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore as a part of National Pharmacy Week organised guest lecture on AIDS Awareness on 1st December 2016. Resource Person, Dr. Shahul Hameed, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mukka, Surathkal gave a talk on AIDS awareness and necessary steps to save the society and lives.

REPORT ON INDIAN PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION LOCAL BRANCH, MANGALORE OBSERVES WORLD PATIENTS SAFETY DAY

Indian Pharmaceutical Association local branch, Mangalore in association with Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangalore has observed “World Patients Safety Day” by donating blood on 9th December 2016 in Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Mukka. On this occasion, Dr. Pramod Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Srinivas Hospital highlighted the significance of Pharmacovigilance cell and studies, reports of adverse drug reactions. He has announced that he would arrange interactive sessions with physicians once in a month, regularly to discuss these issues.

REPORT ON TWO DAY NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INNOVATIVE PRACTICES IN CLINICAL TRAINING AND PATIENT SAFETY

Srinivas College of Pharmacy in association with IPA, local branch, Mangalore has organised a two day National Seminar with the theme “Innovative Practices in Clinical training and Patient safety” on 20th, 21st Feb 2017. It was mainly organized for Pharm D, M.Pharm, Pharmacy Practice, Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutics students.

Highly experienced resource persons Dr.G.P Mohanta, Professor, Annamalai University, Chidambaram T N, Mr. Sanjay R Sogali, Senior clinical research Manager, PRA Health Sciences, Bangalore, Dr. Sharath Kumar, Co-ordinator, Pharmacovigilance programme of India, Mangalore, Dr. Padmaja Uday Kumar, Professor of Pharmacology, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore and Dr. Pramod Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mukka were invited. They deliberated about the advances made in the treatment of ailments.

Dr. A R Shabaraya, Principal & Director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy, President of IPA local branch presided over the inaugural session. He exhorted the participants to take note of the guiding principles given by the speakers. Delegates from Mangalore, other parts of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Goa participated in the conference. 85 research articles were presented in the poster, 10 participants presented their research findings in the oral sessions in the scientific sessions.
