World Oral Health Day Celebration 2025

As part of World Oral Health Day 2025, Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka, Mangaluru, organized a special program on March 20, 2025, marking the beginning of Oral Health Month (March 20 – April 20, 2025). This year’s theme, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind,” highlighted the connection between oral and mental health. The event was conducted in the college auditorium at 12:00 PM and commenced with the screening of an oral health awareness video created by the FDI. This was followed by an introductory and welcome speech by Dr. Sreevidya, Head of the Department of Public Health Dentistry, who emphasized the importance of oral health in maintaining overall well-being, particularly its impact on mental health. Following the welcome address, final-year students delivered an invocation, setting a solemn tone for the event. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was then conducted by the Dean, Prof. Dr. K Reshma Pai, along with all Heads of Departments (HODs), symbolizing the beginning of the celebration. The Dean, Prof. Dr. K Reshma Pai, addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of oral health in daily life and the role of dental professionals in raising awareness within the community. She also outlined the various activities and programs scheduled for Oral Health Month to promote better oral health practices. A short skit on the importance of oral health in daily life, performed by final-year students from the Department of Public Health Dentistry, was one of the highlights of the program, engaging the audience effectively. Another key moment was the inauguration of a selfie booth, designed and set up by third-year students from the Department of Public Health Dentistry, which was officially opened by the Dean. To conclude the event, a pledge-taking ceremony was held, where all participants took an oath to promote good oral health, led by the Dean. After the conclusion of the main program at 1:00 PM, all faculty members, students, and interns attended a webinar organized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) as part of the National Oral Health Program (NOHP) from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Furthermore, oral health screening programs were initiated at all satellite centers, extending the impact of the event to the broader community. The program concluded successfully with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sreevidya, expressing gratitude to all attendees and contributors. The event was anchored by Dr. Sandeep from the Department of Public Health Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Ardra and Dr. Sulochana from the Department of Public Health Dentistry played a crucial role in organizing the event, ensuring its smooth execution.The celebration of Oral Health Month will continue with various activities and awareness programs aimed at improving oral health in the community.
