World No Tobacco Day 2025

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the formal inauguration. Prof. Dr. K. Reshma Pai, Dean of Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, delivered an inspiring keynote address. A pledge ceremony followed, where students, staff, and faculty members collectively vowed to abstain from tobacco and nicotine products. A student-led skit creatively illustrated how the tobacco industry glamorizes harmful products. A quiz competition on tobacco-related topics was organized, and top scorers were recognized. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered, expressing gratitude to all contributors and participants. As part of an outreach initiative, awareness session for patients visiting the dental outpatient, informative talks on the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine, the risk of oral cancer, and the importance of early detection and cessation support. A screening session was held to examine patients for tobacco-related oral lesions. Additionally, educational pamphlets in both English and the local language were distributed. Through these comprehensive efforts, the institute reaffirmed its commitment to building a healthier, tobacco-free society.
