Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April 2025

Department Of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Srinivas institute of Dental Science celebrated Autism Awareness Day at St Mary’s: Centre for Special Developmental, Special Education, Therapies and Counselling by spreading awareness and prioritizing oral hygiene for all. On the occasion of world Autism Awareness Day, Postgraduate of Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry and interns of Srinivas Institute of dental science, Mukka, Mangalore visited to St Mary’s on occasion of celebrating Autism Awareness Day on 2nd of April 2025. The program began with inspiring speeches by Father and the Principal of St Mary’s, who emphasized the importance of inclusivity, understanding, and love for children with autism. Their words encouraged everyone to create a more supportive and accepting environment. Where we welcomed the children with warm greetings, ensuring they felt special and appreciated. Following the speeches, a cake-cutting ceremony took place, symbolizing joy and unity. The children then showcased their amazing talents through dancing and singing performances, which filled the atmosphere with excitement and happiness. Postgraduates engaged with the enthusiastic children, sharing insights on preventing cavities, proper brushing techniques, improving of flossing, and the benefits of using mouthwash. And also, a comprehensive talk was delivered to parents, caregiver and occupational therapist in Tulu, Kannada, which provides insights into various treatment procedures and utilization of technologies to enhance patient care and management. There we also distributed brush with toothpaste for all the children. To further engage the children, various fun-filled activities and games were conducted. Thumb printing with paint, where children expressed themselves creatively. Ball in the box, a playful activity that brought smiles to their faces. Planting activity, promoting a sense of responsibility and connection with nature. Musical chairs, which added laughter and friendly competition. Each activity was carefully planned to ensure that the children felt included and enjoyed every moment. Their joyful expressions and enthusiasm made the event truly memorable.
