World Oral Health Awareness is not something that needs acknowledgement just for a day, a week or a month but it is a relentless effort towards educating the workers in the dental colleges, other institutions and general public at large. In keeping with this spirit, to commemorate ‘ World Oral Health Day ’(WOHD)Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences commenced the Oral Health Awareness Week - Mission Surathkal, Every mouth in Surathkal free of disease on 21st March 2022. The third level which was planned to be conducted on the 25th of March had to be postponed to 28th March due to local restrictions on public gathering but the finale saw a gripping Street Play and Oral Health March in Surathkal Junction gathering the local population and encouraging them to take part in the periodontal screening camp that was conducted in the Primary Health Centre Surathkal. The inaugural function was presided by Prof Dr. K. Reshma Pai, Prof Dr. Chandni, Dr. Sree Vidya Bhat and Mrs. Shamita. The essence of the talk was1. Need for oral health2. Importance of oral health for systemic health and vice versa 3. Availability of affordable and viable treatment options at SIDS. The screening camp saw active participation of the local crowds and concluded at 1pm. The event was covered and broadcasted by Namma Kudla news channel to spread awareness in the district of Mangalore.
