National Oral Hygiene Day Celebrations on 01/08/24

National Oral Hygiene Day Celebrations conducted by Department of Periodontics on 1st Aug’24 at SIDS, Mukka.To commemorate the National Oral Hygiene Day on Aug 1st, the Department of Periodontics celebrated with enthusiasm and organised fun educational activities at Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences (SIDS), Mukka, on 31st July. The 1st of August saw the inauguration of Oral Health Education Counselling centre by the Dean, Prof. (Dr.) K Reshma Pai. Pre-Celebration Activities included:1. Pigmenta Intima - Painting Competition: A painting competition named Pigmenta Intima was held, focusing on artistic expressions related to oral health using dental aids. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, showcasing their creativity and understanding of dental hygiene. The winners of this competition were- 1st prize – Mithuna and Sofiya (3rd year) 2nd prize – Dr. Siri and Dr. Aditi (Interns) 2. Bridging the Brush Strokes - Oral Health Education: Under the banner Bridging the Brush Strokes, various teams presented oral health education sessions. These interactive sessions in the competition aimed at increasing awareness about innovative methods in oral hygiene practices among students. The winners of this competition were- 1st prize – Dr. Suhasini, Dr. Sneha and Dr. Soudha (Interns) 2nd prize – Pratham, Pathiksha and Shraddha (3rd year) Main Celebration on August 1, 2024- CHEERY SMILES The celebration commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Chandni Sreekumar, Professor and Head, Department of Periodontics. Dr. Chandni highlighted the importance of oral hygiene and the significance of National Oral Hygiene Day. Also, briefly mentioned about the competitions held on the previous day and how the students exhibited their excellent talent. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) K Reshma Pai, Dean, Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences, Mukka.This was followed by the inauguration of Oral Health Education Counselling Centre by the Dean, Prof. (Dr.) K Reshma Pai. This centre aims to provide ongoing education and support for maintaining optimal.oral health. Throughout the event, various educational videos on importance of oral hygiene made by the students were played on the TV screen. These videos included highlights from the pre-celebration programs and additional content on oral health practices. Later, the Dean, Prof. (Dr.) K Reshma Pai addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for such activities to ensure ongoing awareness amongst the public. The Dean distributed prizes and congratulated the winners of the competition. A cake cutting ceremony was held symbolizing the celebrations and success of the program.The event concluded with a Vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sheehan R.Dsouza, Reader, Department of Periodontics, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and organizers.The National Oral Hygiene Day was celebrated with great success that combined educational activities with engaging programs among the students and staffs of SIDS underscoring the commitment to enhancing oral health awareness.
