ORTHODONTIC AWARENESS WEEK

National Orthodontists day was celebrated by Department Of Orthodontics And Dentofacial Orthopedics At Srinivas Institute Of Dental Sciences Mukka on 5th October 2023.The Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) was established on 5th October 1965 by seven founding members, and this is the reason that the dentist community celebrates this day as ‘Orthodontists Day’ in India. The IOS is a part of the World Federation of Orthodontics and has close to 10,000 life and student members.The Department of Orthodontics, SIDS celebrated this day by decorating the department and conducting various competitions for students and staffs. Prof. (Dr.) Praveen Shetty, H.O.D, department of orthodontics welcomed the gathering .Followed by lighting of the lamp. Our Dean Prof.(Dr.)Reshma Pai was invited as the chief guest for the day .She spoke about the importance of orthodontic treatment and also about the interdepartmental involvement for few cases. Prof. (Dr.) Chandini, H.O.D, Department of Periodontics, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Daniel, Professor, Department Of Orthodontics and Mrs. Veena were judges for the “smile contest”. Prof. (Dr.) Siddharth Kotian, Professor, Department of Orthodontics was the judge for “Best occlusion” and “Artistic wire bending” competitions. Dr.Greeshma Kannan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Orthodontics rendered the vote of thanks.Dr.Roopashree Naik, Postgraduate student was the MC for the event On this occasion the Mangalore orthodontic study group (MOSG) in association with all the dental colleges of Mangalore is celebrating orthodontic awareness week from 5th October – 15th October.
