Inauguration ceremony of MOBILE DENTAL CLINIC AND IMPLANTOLOGY COURSE

Chief guest, Honourable Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, MLA of Mangaluru north inaugurated a new hi-tech Mobile dental clinic and implantology course modules on the 23rd of April 2022 at Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences. The Guest of honour for the function was Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Pro-chancellor, Srinivas University and vice-president, A Shama Rao Foundation. Dr Anil Kumar, registrar, Srinivas University was present during the function.Mobile dental clinic was upgraded to a new hi-tech dental bus with 15-seater capacity, two fully equipped dental chairs, air-condition and generator facilities with the intention of providing quality oral health care services to the needy in rural and remote areas who have no/limited access to hospitals and clinics. It is also an option in creating awareness and providing oral health education to people. Dr. Bharath Shetty inaugurated the mobile dental van by cutting a ribbon and waving a flag. This was followed by inauguration of implantology course module conducted at the Department of Prosthodontics. Implantology is a relatively new area in dentistry and fast developing. To keep abreast with the advancing technology and the idea of taking the course to BDS graduates, the module was started at SIDS under the guidance of Dr. Nitesh Shetty, Professor and HoD, Department of Prosthodontics.The formal inaugural session started with the prayer song followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof. Dr. K. Reshma Pai, Dean, SIDS. The event of new beginning was marked by all dignitaries lighting a lamp. Dr. Bharath Shetty addressed the gathering and inspired the dental students and interns through his words. Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Pro-chancellor, Srinivas University addressed the gathering and recognized the immense contribution of Dr. Bharath Shetty during Covid pandemic.The formal ceremony ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr Sreevidya Bhat, Reader at the department of Public Health Dentistry. The program concluded with the National Anthem. Dr. Deepa Shetty, Dept. of Periodontics; and Dr. Bettina Ashwini, Dept of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics, were the masters of the ceremony.
