World Hypertension Day

World Hypertension Day, organized by the World Hypertension League (WHL), is observed annually on May 17th. This global event aims to raise awareness about hypertension (high blood pressure) and promote healthy habits to prevent and manage this condition, which is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, and other health issues. Theme: This year's theme is “Measure your blood pressure accurately, control it, live longer”. The Department Oral Medicine and Radiology has focused on promoting accurate blood pressure measurement and management to prevent non-communicable diseases and enhance longevity. Various activities were organised for the students Activities:- Competitions: Engaging students through slogan writing and skits to raise awareness about hypertension. - Blood Pressure Monitoring for the patients was done for a month: Monitoring patients' blood pressure to provide immediate feedback and encourage regular checks. This helps in managing hypertension effectively and promotes discussions on lifestyle changes and treatment options.World Hypertension Day emphasizes the importance of awareness and accurate blood pressure measurement. By fostering healthy habits and regular monitoring, we can significantly reduce the risks associated with hypertension and improve overall cardiovascular health.
