Department of Biochemistry

Biochemistry is chemistry of life. Medical biochemistry deals with biochemistry in human health and disease. Its applicative arm is clinical biochemistry, a field that focuses on methodology and interpretation of chemical tests performed to support diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Department of biochemistry in SIMS & RC is run by a group of experienced and talented faculty and is involved in teaching undergraduate students, conducting research and maintaining high standards in diagnostic services.

Faculty is involved in teaching the undergraduate students by didactic lectures, practical classes, small group teaching and seminars.

The diagnostic laboratory, attached to the hospital, is intended to serve as a referral laboratory for physicians of this hospital as well as for those practicing in the surrounding areas. Routine and specialized biochemistry tests are carried out on a daily basis.

The faculty attends conferences and CMEs to remain abreast of the latest development in the evolving field of Biochemistry.
